Master Phil’s SURVIVAL STRONG defensive tactics and system is borne of more than four decades of martial arts competition in kickboxing, boxing, grappling and Jiu Jitsu, as well as professional security application by Master Trainer Phil Ross, M.S. The system includes both mental and physical preparedness through practicing scenarios, providing axioms, administering technique and learning the most effective responses to personal attacks. The system includes the 3 F’s, the 4 F’s, S.I.P.D.E. and Instinctive Technique development. Introduction: There are many excellent ways to use a blade. I’m not saying that my style is the best, but it’s extremely effective and works for me. My quick background; I’ve carried a blade my whole life. My grandfather was the first to show me how to throw a blade. I’ve trained in the Filipino Systems under my direct Instructor Pat Finley, who was trained by Dan Inosanto. I was trained by Jon Collins who was under Dr. Gyi in Burmese Bando. In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, I started training in the Fairbairn-Sykes System and was made popular in the U.S. by Rex Applegate. It’s a system developed in the trench warfare that took place in WW1 & WW2. It’s a system that’s “straight to the point”, pun intended.
